Meet the Instructors

Heather King

D.M.A., Full Member C.D.T.A. , A.A.C.1

Heather is a certified ballet instructor under the Dance Masters of America Association. In November of 2014 she was awarded, through examination her Full Membership status with the Stage (Jazz and Tap) Division of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. In August of 2016 she complete the Acrobatic Arts Module One course and exam and is Acrobatic Arts Certified. The following November Heather was also awarded, through examination her Associate Membership status with the Ballet Division of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. She has been dancing for over 25 years studying ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, modern, lyrical and hip-hop. She has competed in these disciplines across Canada and the United States and was “World Champion” at the IDO competition in Boston. Heather also attended Niagara District Secondary School and received her “DNA Arts Certificate”. She has participated in community performances such as “Guys and Dolls” with Garden City Productions and “Wonderland” with Fascination Dance Studio. She was the choreographer for Something-Something Productions, doing choreography for the “Rocky Horror Show” at Corks Winebar and Restaurant in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Heather has taught classes for United Way, Thorold Public Library, District School Board of Niagara as well as various dance studios in the Niagara Region. Heather continues her dance training by taking lessons and attending workshops in Canada and in the United States, including classes at New York City’s “Broadway Dance Center.” Heather is excited to share her love and knowledge of dance with our students.

Ava Dalcourt

L.I.S.T.D. - Full Member and Examiner, C.D.T.A.

Through examination, Ava Dalcourt has earned the distinction, Licentiate Member of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, London England, Cecchetti Society Branch and Full Member and Examiner of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association, Ballet Division. Ava currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association at the Provincial and previously at the National Level. Mrs. Dalcourt received all of her training as a ballet dancer from Beverly Feder, in Niagara Falls, New York and through several summers training in Sarasota, Florida with the late Jean Spear, F.I.S.T.D. She performed with the Niagara Civic Ballet Company for several years before pursuing her teacher’s training at the National Ballet School in Toronto and The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Manitoba. As a teacher of Classical Ballet since 1973, Ava brings to our students an abundance of knowledge and experience.

Donna Moreau

Honorary Full Member and Examiner, C.D.T.A.

Donna Moreau is a Honourary Full Member and Examiner for the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association in both Ontario and Saskatchewan. She became a member of this professional organization in 1979. Mrs. Moreau serves on the Board of Directors at both the Provincial and National level, presently holding the position of C.D.T.A. National Past President. Specializing in Tap, Jazz and Stage, Donna has a wide choreographic and performing experience in both amateur and professional theatre with over thirty musical productions to her credit. She has adjudicated numerous dance competitions across the country and is highly respected in the dance community. Mrs. Moreau began her dance training with Dot Blakeley in 1956. Donna holds an Ontario Teacher’s Certificate from the Ministry of Education. She successfully completed the requirements at St. Catharine’s Teacher’s College in 1971 but her love of dance drew her back to the studio. She has been teaching and choreographing since 1968 and has had the opportunity to study with some of the greatest master teachers in the dance professions such as Gus Giordano, Charles Kelly, Debbi Dee, Bob Rizzo and Nadia Potts to name a few.

Kilby Dickinson

Former Ballerina, L’Opera Royal de Wallonie

Kilby Dickinson is an Advanced Certificate holder from The Royal Academy of Dancing, London England. She danced as a student with Les Grand Ballet Canadians for three years, before moving to Belgium. In Belgium, she accepted a position with L’Opera Royal de Wallonie as a Classical Ballet Dancer and danced professionally with the company until she retired after 17 years. We feel very fortunate to have Miss Dickinson as a member of our team, as she shares her 17 years of experience dancing professionally with our students, bringing unique professional choreographic works to our stage for the enjoyment of our audiences.

Diana Depalo Harpwood

BFA in Dance, Full Member C.D.T.A.

After many years of training with Dance Expressions, Diana became an Associate Member of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association and moved to Toronto to complete her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance at York University. During her four years at York, she was able to broaden her knowledge of dance further by studying different forms of Modern dance, pedagogy, kinesiology and many different movement therapies. She also had the opportunity to perform with the York Dance Ensemble which allowed her to work with world-renowned choreographers and travel with the company as part of her education. In November of 2011 Diana was awarded, through examination, her Full Membership status with the Ballet Division of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. In June of 2014, she was awarded, through examination her Associate Membership status with the Stage (Jazz) Division of the Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. In addition to teaching dance, Diana is a Certified Yoga Instructor and teaches at Yoga by Sarah in St. Catharines. Her knowledge of yoga and its benefits are helpful in teaching dance to all ages. Diana’s bubbly personality and love for dance make her classroom a wonderful place to be.

Colleen Shenck

Colleen has been dancing for 25 years studying tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and modern. She has competed in these disciplines across Canada and the United States. Colleen competed at the IDO competition in Orlando and her group was rewarded “World Champion” representing Team Canada. Over her career she has been involved in numerous community performances including “Wonderland” with Fascination Dance Studio and she was a Jr. Cheerleader for the Hamilton Tigercats. Colleen has choreographed for the Denis Morris High School Fashion Show and was a dancer in the Golden Curl awards for Picasso Hair Salon. Colleen continues her dance training by taking lessons and attending workshops in Canada and the United States, including classes at New York City’s “Broadway Dance Center.” Colleen is excited to share her passion and love of dance.

Meaghan Scott

Meaghan received all of her dance training at Dance Expressions Inc., studying jazz, tap, ballet, pointe and modern. She has completed up to intermediate in jazz and tap exams through Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association, as well as ballet exams through Cecchetti and Canadian Dance Teachers’ Association. Meaghan was also accepted to Quinte Ballet School, and studied there for a summer program – working with many talented instructors. She also had the opportunity to perform with the Canadian Ballet Youth Ensemble in a production of “Snow White” at Hamilton Place, under the direction of Vitek Wincza. Meaghan has won many first place awards as a member of our competitive dance team. She has always loved dance, particularly ballet, and is excited to share her passion and love for dance with our students.
